The Bikestations project began in 2001 with a concept design for a
bike commuters’ service station located at King Street Station in
downtown Seattle.
In 2003 - 04, the Puget Sound Regional Council carried the project further,
engaging PLACE to design and document three facility types: uncovered
bike parking, high density enclosed bike parking, and a full service
manned station with parking, repair services and restrooms. PLACE
also designed a graphic ID system for the stations to be used
throughout the region.
In 2007, Everett Community College was the
first PSRC member to install a bike parking enclosure built from
the PLACE plans.
