Since it was first constructed in 1974, the outdoor velodrome has
been an important feature of Redmond’s Marymoor Park. However, track
users have always wished for better support facilities, including
on-site storage, stands, concessions, and judges’ quarters. In 2001,
PLACE began concept plans and in 2006, on an extremely tight budget,
the velodrome shed was completed. The design weaves the new building
into the fabric of the existing park, while recalling agrarian forms
that once dominated the local landscape.
